Had my ACW forces set up on my floor for a couple of days, admiring them and arranging them yet one more time into companies and regiments. But each time I was left with a couple of guys that just didn't seem to fit anywhere. Most of the time it was the Commander, Standard Bearer and Mounted Bugler figures that were the odd ones out. Instead of throwing them back into the box I took a hot knife to them and had a bottle of Crazy glue ready. Here's what I came up with:
They are simple conversions and they each fill an empty slot in my ACW forces. Hopefully they will see some action soon.

The Drive To Richmond
As the Union Forces got closer to Richmond, the South's generals got younger - today's were 9 and 10! The rules again were Featherstone's.
The South unveils its new secret weapon!
"Charge, Brave Men of The Union, Charge!"
"Fire the Cannons!"
But Confederate Sharpshooters are deadly!
The lines close.
Glorious Cavalry Charges!
Point Blank firing!
And the South prevails again!
A very fun game.

Deetails and Donald Featherstone
Recently re-read Donald Featherstone's fantastic "Wargames" (1962), and wanted to put his rules into action. Chose the Horse and Musket set to get the ACW guys back on the table. Here we go:
The Union attacks a Southern town.
The Confederacy is ready!
Cannons are very deadly in these rules! But also very fun. Actually, everything is! I love the simplicity of these rules. Shooting is a D6 per five men. Combat is the same. There are saving throws, easy morale, and the importance of officers!
A determined Union charge reaches the Rebel barricades...
...and breaks through!
Important high-ranking prisoners are taken!
This inspires a brave head-on, albeit, suicidial cavalry charge.
Soon it just all comes down to ...
...this...
The South is saved!
For the time for being...

ACW All The Time
Hopelessly obsessed with the ACW at the moment. Had a great game with The Kid trying out my new ACW rules.
Was another Confederate victory.
