DSG Bolt Action - Finns vs. 8th Army

For a brief time in late 1942, various portals simultaneously, and most mysteriously, opened up.  When General Montgomery heard about the Portal that connected North Africa to Finland, he exclaimed, "We will get to Berlin via Finland!"

But the Finns were not about to have their country be trampled through by the British!

SAS troops spearhead the 8th Army attack!

The Finns and their Chi-Ha tanks advance cautiously.

Here comes the Desert Rats!   (I had been looking forward all week to playing with these guys!)

And these terrific Chi-Ha's!  These are the work of Ross Mac, of the inspiring blog, Battle Game of the Month.  Really nice paint jobs on these two tanks!

The shooting in this game was atrocious.

Which left Close Combat as the only option.

The remains of the 8th Army retreat back to the desert.

And then, without warning, all the portals closed...

Battle For Poland

Bolt Action 1939 Poland with the Kid this afternoon.   750 points per side.

The Germans:

The Poles (wearing British uniforms and borrowing a Daimler for a TKS tankette, and the ever-present Chi-Ha as a 7TP):

Some pics from the game:

Mortars are so amazing in Bolt Action!  Plus I love these figures!

Bolt Action French

Next to playing with Britains Deetails, I find it very enjoyable organizing my toys into gameable forces.   Here is my French battlegroup for Bolt Action:

Chi-Ha(s) doubling as R-35's!

And beautiful Legionnaires!  This range of Deetails has always been one of my most favourites - they have seen action from 1860's Mexico to 1940 France.  Next stop - North Africa 1942!

Britains' Jeep versus Kubelwagen

Another great Toy Fair today.   Happily brought a Kubelwagen and a Jeep home.  Naturally, they had to put immediately into action - Bolt Action!

In turn five, the Kubelwagen decides not to Recce Away from the HMG of the Jeep.  Big mistake!

Jeep 1, Kubelwagen 0.

Pics from a couple of Muskets and Tomahawks' games

Have been enjoying playing quite a bit of Muskets and Tomahawks recently, so of course had to play it also with Deetails!   Here are some photos from two different games:

A Bit of Backyard Bolt Action

A German Battlegroup tries to halt the Allied advance in today's Bolt Action Lite game with The Kid.

How the Americans...

...and the British wound up on the Russian Steppes driving towards Germany, is one of those great unexplored mysteries of WWII.

But it really doesn't matter though, 'cause the Germans confidently cruise into action blowing up Shermans and Churchills with little concern for their own safety...

..until...!?!...

Cheers ring out from the American lines!

Suddenly more Panzers start to brew up!

Even the Tiger I!?!

And with that, it ends.

Fun stuff.  We left the order dice and pinning markers out because I didn't want to lose them in the grass.  But we didn't really need them anyway.  Bolt Action Lite!
